Update September 25, 2014 regarding the rainwater intrusion at the VA Roseburg Healthcare System Emergency Department (ED) yesterday that resulted in utilizing an alternative location for check in and triage for patients presenting to the ED:
As of 10:30 am this morning, the alternate location for patients presenting to the Emergency Department is no longer required.
All areas affected by the rainwater intrusion are contained and patients presenting to the Emergency Department will be seen at the normal location.
There are no delays in the flow of emergency services.
The Contractor has completed containment of all areas affected by the rainwater and is in the process of replacing damaged drywall and dehumidifiers have been placed in the containment areas


This is a heads up message to notify you that the VA Roseburg Healthcare System Emergency Department (ED) located at 913 NW Garden Valley Blvd. Roseburg, Oregon, has sustained significant damage due to rainwater intrusion from the construction taking place on the floor above the ED. Due to safety concerns, we are currently unable to treat patients within the immediate ED area. The following actions have been taken in order to see patients who present to the ED.

1.ED check-in has been moved to the lab on the first floor
2.Walk in patients are being triaged in rooms adjacent to the ED
3.Emergent patients will be transferred to community facilities, if necessary
4.Other less urgent care is taking place in the specialty care area on the first floor of the main hospital building
5.Facilities Management and safety staff are assessing and monitoring the impacted areas to ensure continued safety
6.Ambulances are being diverted
7.Mercy has been contacted and is aware of the potential increase in volume.

The damage is being assessed, the contractors will be working around the clock to fix the leaks, and the damaged areas will be repaired as soon as possible. Status updates will be provided as needed.
