Growth and Expansion continues for VA Roseburg Healthcare System

New Clinic to be constructed in Eugene

VA Roseburg Healthcare System (VARHS) is pleased to announce, that after many years of planning and soliciting, the contract for our new CBOC in Eugene has finally been awarded.  The winning developer was awarded the contract on February 28th  to build and lease our new Eugene clinic.  The proposed 99,000 net usable square feet (120,000+ Gross Square feet) clinic will consolidate our existing buildings on River Road and River Avenue in Eugene.  The staff and services in those two buildings will be moved to the new clinic once completed.  The BHRRS staff and services will remain in their current location.

The facility will be built on 14.3 acres at the northwest corner of Chad Drive and Old Coburg Road across from the Register Guard Building in Eugene.  The contract calls for this new facility to be designed, built, and leased to VARHS by March of 2015.

In addition to expanding the existing services offered in Eugene, new services planned for this clinic include:

• Ambulatory Surgery                        • Optometry                 • Laboratory
• Audiology and Speech Pathology   • Ophthalmology          • Imaging
• Cardiopulmonary                            • Orthopedics               • Prosthetics
• Dental                                            • Podiatry
• Gastroenterology                           • Urology

Some news reports have erroneously indicated the Vet Center will be co-located in this building.  The Vet Center has recently completed a facility of its own near the BHRRS building in downtown Eugene and plans to remain there.

While there is still much work to be done in designing, staffing, equipping, supplying, building, and activating this new facility, we are very excited to have reached this milestone on the journey.

This is truly an exhilarating time of growth and change for the VARHS and for the Veterans we serve. We will be providing updates via our web, social media, The VA Relay newsletter and public service announcements as we progress toward the anticipated opening of our new clinic in 2015.
